Cosmetics and Makeup Advice and Tips

Remember how much you enjoyed painting when you were a girl? Well, lucky us, we girls still get to experiment with paint, only now we call it makeup!

Believe it or not, the first step in getting closer to fabulous makeup look is… taking care of your skin! That’s right – when you take great care of your skin, you give yourself the beginning of a gorgeously made-up face. That means setting up a daily skin care regimen based on three words: clean, tone and moisturize, in that order.

Start your facial look by taking good care of your canvas – your skin. Learn about your personal skin type – normal, dry, oily or combination — and then embark on a regular skincare routine. Twice daily you should cleanse your skin, tone it with a toner, and apply lotion, even if you have oily or combination skin. Stick to this process and you’ll be sure to have a great start to your makeup.

Then, choose a good foundation that matches your skin type. Always buy the absolute best makeup you can afford, because it’s going on one of the most important parts of your body, your skin. Poor quality cosmetics products looks on your complexion like just what they are – cheap cosmetics product.

Deciding on the correct shade of foundation is always the hardest part of choosing cosmetics. To select a shade, dab a litte bit of the product on the skin inside your wrist. That’s a part of your body that’s nearest in skin tone to your face. Don’t try to match your facial tone by trying foundation on the back of your hand because your hand will be darker than your face because it gets tan from the sun’s rays.

Once you’ve figured out your foundation, the real enjoyment begins. So many makeup colors, and only one face! The answer to this situation is to give yourself more than one look. Some girls like to create a traditional look based on the stronger colors in their wardrobe. Others like to experiment as trends change throughout the seasons.

The true fun of makeup products start once you’ve picked out your foundation. Now is the chance to experiment with a few different looks for day time, night time and nice events. The first step is to consider the combination of your skin tone and hair color together. For instance, girls with light hair, lighter-colored eyes and fair skin will look gorgeous in neutrals and pastels. Women with pale skin and darker eyes and hair can wear darker makeup with more contrast. Girls whose skin and eyes are deep often look attractive in deep shades contrasted with silvery or metallic highlights.

You can apply cosmetics product colors according to the color scheme of your clothing, or you can come with your own “signature” looks based on your skin tone and hair color. Once you’ve figured out your cosmetics, be sure to blend everything together so that you have the right finish. Whether your makeup is dramatic or subtle, you don’t want to end up looking like a fake barbie!

Having a friend or makeup consultant work with you on your makeup can be helpful, because we don’t always know what looks best|what looks best on ourselves|what will look best on us. After all, we don’t want to go around looking at ourselves in the mirror all day long. We simply want to put our best faces forward while at work, having fun or when we’re hanging out our special someone.
